Q. What is JOBBS?

A. The Jobs Opportunity Bulletin Board System (JOBBS) is an electronic employment assistance website sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) primarily for displaced DOE contractor employees and DOE contractor employers.


Q. Who can use JOBBS?

A. Anyone. JOBBS is a public resource. However, for security purposes, job seekers must be registered users to post their résumés and contractor employers must be registered users to view résumés and post job vacancies.


Q. Do I have to register to use JOBBS?

A. No you do not have to register to use JOBBS. However, if you wish to post your résumé or if you are a contractor employer, and you want to post job openings or view resumes you must be a registered user.


Q. How do I register to use JOBBS?

A. To become a registered user:

  • Click on the "Register" button on the left side of the screen
  • If you are a contractor employer, click on "I represent a hiring organization and I want to be able to post jobs"
  • If you are looking for a job, do not click the "I represent a hiring organization and I want to be able to post jobs" button
  • Complete the user information
  • Click on the "Register" button at the bottom of the screen


Q. Can I use JOBBS immediately?

A. You can access all the features of JOBBS except those for which you must be a registered user. You can search for job openings, obtain contractor information using the "Links" button and, navigate through other features of the website without registering. However, to post résumés and view résumés and job openings, you must register. Once you receive confirmation of your registration, usually within 24 hours, you must activate your account through the link provided in the confirmation.


Q. Do I have to register every time I use JOBBS?

A. No. Registration is a one time process. After your account is activated, simply log in using your user ID and password.


Q. How do I post my resume?

A. To post your résumé:

  • Log in with your user ID and password
  • Click on the “My Résumé” button on the left of the screen
  • Click on “Make Résumé Searchable” to make your resume available for viewing by contractor employers
  • To upload your resume, use the “Browse” feature to locate your file and click on “Upload Resume,” or
  • Copy your resume from another document and paste it in the “Resume Text” box, or
  • Type your resume in the “Resume Text” box
  • Read the Privacy Disclosure statement and accept the terms of the statement
  • Click on the “Save Résumé” button at the bottom of the screen


Q. What is the Privacy Disclosure statement?

A. The Privacy Disclosure statement is verification that your resume does not include any protected Personally Identifiable Information (PII). PII is defined as an individual’s first name or first initial and last name in combination with any one or more of types of information, including, but not limited to social security number; passport number; credit card numbers; clearances; bank numbers; biometrics; date and place of birth; mother’s maiden name; criminal, medical, and financial records; educational transcripts; etc.


Q. Do I have to accept the terms of the Privacy Disclosure statement?

A. If you want to post your resume and make it available for viewing by contractor employers you must accept the terms of the Privacy Disclosure statement.


Q. What happens if my resume contains Protected Personally Identifiable Information (PII)?

A. Your resume will be denied for posting if it is determined that any PII is included. In the event that your resume is rejected, you will receive an e-mail informing you of the denial.


Q. If my resume is denied can I resubmit it?

A. Yes, your resume can be resubmitted as often as you like. However, you must remove any PII from your resume for it to be approved for posting.


Q. How will I know if my resume is approved?

A. You will receive an e-mail informing you that your resume has been approved. Once it is approved, your resume will be posted for viewing by contractor employers. Your resume will not be posted unless it is approved.


Q. I want to get more information on a contractor employer. Can I do that through JOBBS?

A. Yes you can. Go to the left side of the JOBBS welcome page and click on the "Links" button. Scroll down the to the "DOE Contractors’ Websites" section.


Q. I am a contractor employer, how do I post job openings?

A. To post job openings:

  • Log in with your user ID and password
  • Click on the "Manage Ads" button on the left of the screen
  • Click on "Post New Ads"


Q. What if I want to view resumes that have been posted?

A. To view resumes:

  • Log in with your user ID and password
  • Click on the "Search Résumés" button on the left of the screen
  • Enter a keyword and begin your search


Q. My company is already using JOBBS but I am new to the company. Do I still have to register?

A. Yes. Each contractor employer representative must register separately.


Q. Is there a fee to use JOBBS?

A. No. There is no fee to use JOBBS. However, because this is an on-line resource, you may incur a fee to access your Internet service.


Q. Can I use JOBBS to find U.S. Department of Labor employment services in my area?

A. Yes. To locate information on state and local U. S. Department of Labor employment services, click the "Links" button on the left side of the screen and scroll down to the "Other Related Websites" section. State employment service centers can be found by clicking on "U.S. Department of Labor Services by Location" and selecting the state of your choice.
